Grand Theft Auto V is an open-world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on 17 September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and on 18 November 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is the fifth main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, and the first main entry since Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008.

Gameplay

Grand Theft Auto V is played from a third-person perspective in an open-world environment, allowing the player to interact with the game world at their leisure. The game is set within the fictional state of San Andreas, which is based in Southern California.

The single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency. The open-world design lets players freely explore San Andreas, which includes open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos.

Players can travel to the game's three main areas using a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and boats. Players can also use aircraft, including fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, to travel between the three areas.

The world is populated with pedestrians and vehicles, both of which can be interacted with. Players can engage in various activities while in San Andreas, including swimming, tennis, golf, and scuba diving. The single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency.

The game offers players a great degree of freedom to explore the open world, which includes interacting with the game's characters, undertaking missions, and engaging in numerous activities, such as racing and hunting.  Players who commit crimes may incur a wanted level, which increases the pressure on the player and raises the potential penalties for law enforcement response.

Grand Theft Auto V introduces a new system of monetary acquisition called "stock market manipulation". Players can purchase stocks and bonds online, then make decisions about how to influence their value.

Graphics

The game's graphics are significantly improved over Grand Theft Auto IV. The game uses the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), which allows for a greater draw distance and higher resolution than its predecessor. Grand Theft Auto V also introduces a new weather system, which includes a day-night cycle and dynamic weather effects such as rain and snow.

The character models are especially well-done, and the game world is incredibly detailed. The various landscapes in the game are all very different from each other, and the game's lighting effects are top-notch.

Controls

The game's controls are similar to those of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV. The game uses a third-person perspective, and the player can control the protagonist using directional buttons, analog sticks, and buttons.

The game also uses a lock-on targeting system, which allows the player to automatically target enemies. The game features a variety of vehicles, weapons, and activities, and the controls are well-adapted for each one.

Replayability

Grand Theft Auto V has significantly more replay value than its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV. The game features a number of side missions, which can be completed at the player's leisure.

The game also features a number of collectibles, which can be collected by the player. The game also features a new online multiplayer mode called Grand Theft Auto Online. It also adds significant replay value to the game.
